I bought Fruit of the Earth aloe vera gel from Wal-Mart for about
$4. It's in the health and beauty aids section with the lotions.
It's 100% aloe - no alcohol, fragrance or color. It's a 12 oz.
bottle, so it should last you a while.

My mom thinks I went natural just to get my hair to grow, so now that she has seen it straightshe think I will be keeping it that way. She also thinks i won't be able to get a job( i jus completed grad school) so now she is like what's next?

Next, I am going to buy a gang of scarves to put around my twist to wear to work.

But since we are living in the land of the free and it's only one persons opinion, here we go......

I think becoming natural comes in two different phrases of life. One is physical and the other is mental. OutKast said it best with "Everyone with dreds ain't' for the cause and everyone with gold's ain't' for the fall of our people"

Physically speaking, I believe that natural hair is hair that isn't permed or manipulated to look like permed hair. That's just my option. And coming from a man, when we look at straight hair we don't wonder if she is pressed or permed, men automatically assume you have a perm.

Can you be wearing a perm and/or a press and be mentally natural? By all means yes. One might say that this group has the best of both worlds, but what if you come across someone who needs that visual support on confirming their ethnicity and isn't conscious enough yet to catch your vibe; this person thinks that they are in the struggle alone.

children live by example and my grandmother always said if it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, and talks like a duck, then a duck it is. so if it looks like a perm.............lol

But seriously, how natural you are is purely based on how good you feel about what you see in the mirror and through your soul. Are you a leader that is standing up proud and not in camouflage is my question?

But in good faith, I love all my people. If you think naturally long enough, the physical change is going to come shortly there afterward.

Re: [Naturally_You] What's your definition of "natural"?

2007-04-28 11:08:15

I have noticed people jumping on the natural train, but wanting curly hair or "good hair" for lack of a more common way of putting it. All hair is good hair to me. When I went natural, my soror followed shortly after, but was wanting "more defined curls" as she put it. I love my natural hair she claimed ,but was always looking for a product to make it curly. I think some folks think they are going to look in Tracee Ross or Halle Berry or Jada( who all have beautiful hair [INLINE] ), but all hair is not that type so when it looks like Jill's or Angela Davis thats where the textured come in or the "natural relaxer. I have noticed the more I comb my hair the more manageable it was, but like i have said in previous emails be careful, b/c I have pressed and after washing I look like I let ShaNaNa from In living color put tracks in the back of my head. [INLINE] I have decided to straw set the straight hair and twist the other to make it blend until i decide what to do.

2007-04-28 04:30:49

I never wore extensions. When I had a perm, my hair was in a very low
maintenance wrap that fell just past my shoulders. People always asked me
if my hair was a wig. It never really bothered me. I just took it as a
compliment. I guess that's why it doesn't bother me now when people ask to
touch my hair. I just take that as a compliment as well.

What is your definition of natural

2007-04-27 06:27:07

In my opinion:
Being NATURAL is EMBRACING, LOVING, ADORING, & CELEBRATING THE UNALTERED
TEXTURE OF OUR HAIR. Believe it or not, I have come across clients who wear
their natural hair, but hate it. Their hair is natural out of necessity
(relaxers were breaking their hair) rather than want. Being natural is
physical as well as mental - you must accept and love your natural hair to
be NATURAL.
Natural hair is HEALTHY & STRONG, not weak by a chemical process (any
chemical change to your hair weakens it) -No Perms, No Texturizers, No
Permenant Hair Colors, No Bleaching, No Pressing (though its temprary,
pressing weakens the hair and many can testify, it can permantly straighten
and damage). . . . .

Re: [Naturally_You] What is your definition of "natural"?

2007-04-26 20:01:58

I agree with those that say that naptural is without processing designed to change the texture of your hair. I have been natural for 7.5 years now and have had locs for 6.5. The only chemicals in my hair was dye when I initially started my locs. My being natural isn't just my hair though. To me, it is my approach to all that I do. Natural is mind, body, and spirit to me.

Just my 10 cents.

What is your definition of "natural"?

2007-04-26 11:18:42

When my hair was processed, it wouldn't grow longer than shoulder length. I would get attention, but not as much when my hair was in extensions (long and lush). But now that my own hair is loc'd and down to the middle of my back, I get way more attention from men. And from a wider variety of men. I don't necessarily agree with the fact that men are brain-washed, but I do think they love long hair - something they can run their hands through and pull on. At least that has been my experience.

Thierry, I respect the reply you made about all attention is not good attention. I wear my hair in various styles: 2-stranded twists, single twists, afro, afro puffs (currently wearing braids in front and afro in back) --depending upon the way I feel I might paint my toe nails...I get "correct" attention from my Brothas and a ton of respect from the white man, which is interesting but not appealing to me in any way. The Brotha with no good intentions does not even approach me, and that's kool with me because my intent is not to offend or reject him.

Peace yall,

Hey Therry,
Thank you for the insight. I guess my question eluded to the fact that I am
single. I am happily married and my husband didn't like my natural at first but
likes it now.
What I meant by the attention was the fact that I always had men approaching me,
single and married. And although I am not looking for the attention, I am just
surprised at how guys look but quickly look away. I don't know if I look
"married or settled", but when my hair was permed and long I got approached all
the time.
The attention may not be what I need, but its interesting how men feel about
women just based on their hair texture or how long it is for that matter.
When I do get approached I am called "Nubian, Sister, Queen" all b/c of my
crown. Most guys that do "have the courage" to say hello are mostly those with
dreads or funky fros themselves.
Thank you for the insight.

JIGGA, SMITH, MOTTOLA INVEST IN BEAUTY LINE: Artists pool $10 million to fund Carols Daughter cosmetics.

May 20, 2005

Jada Pinkett Smith

*With just $100 to her name and the simple dream of getting out of debt and bankruptcy, Lisa Price left her 9-5 job and founded her own cosmetics company entitled Carols Daughter, an all-natural line of bath and beauty products that would soon see profits of $2 million and make loyal customers out of Halle Berry, Jada Pinkett-Smith and David Sanborn, among others.

On Tuesday, Pinkett-Smith and her husband Will Smith joined Def Jam president Jay-Z, Interscope Chairman Jimmy Iovine, investor Andrew Farkas, music mogul Steve Stoute, Tommy Mottola, his wife Thalia at a press conference in New York to announce their collective $10 million investment into Carols Daughter.

"I had seen the product and I thought it was a new category that could be introduced," Stoute said to reporters. "Our voice should be able to control and manage it for the marketplace."

The investment will fund a Carols Daughter flagship store in Harlem, due to open in the fall, as well as nine more stores in cities such as Atlanta, Philadelphia and Baltimore.

Pinkett-Smith, a fan of the brands Mango Body Butter and Lisas Hair Elixir, will become the face of the company in an upcoming advertising campaign.

Prices story, which began in her Bedford-Stuyvesant kitchen where she mixed the formulas for the line, is chronicled in her 2004 memoir, "Success Never Smelled So Sweet: How I Followed My Nose and Found My Passion."

Hi Sharon :)

That is a good question. I recently was asked to write an article for a hip hop magazine about the culture of natural hair and the hip hop community and through my research I realized something very important.

Men respect women with naturals more than they do women with perms or straight hair. Men will not approach a woman who is natural with lamb pick up lines or calling you out of your name. Men know that if you are natural, then they need to come correct.

the lack of attention that you might not be getting with straight hair is a blessing. lol

Be patient and that king that is looking for his queen will approach you when he gets his life together.

You are a Goddess, and should always think like a Queen, and Queens pick and choose who they mate with.

going back to the article for the hip hop magazine (which was never published) lol

i talked about the increasing number of men in the industry who are wearing locs with pride, but i also touched on the fact that in the glory of their crunk ignorance, they still respect their African queens, and make a fool of African American women who try to look European by slipping credit card thru their butt cheeks, dance on top of each other, or get game ran on them by other straight hair women who are supposed to be their sista's. lol

A natural sista ain't going for that!!! and most brothers know that, and because of that, you are not getting the mass attention that you once got, so instead of looking at it as rejection or they don't see you as appealing, look at it as they are respecting you as the Queen that you are.

All attention doesn't have good intentions :)

[Naturally_You] What is your definition of "natural"?--My Opinion to Sharon...

2007-04-24 07:50:41

GoodDay all,

I recall getting my head shaved before I loc'ed several years ago. I was surprized and pleased with the new me as I left the barbershop (went to my Brother and Father's Barber). I think that the confiendence of my newest "me" showed and appealed to those I met. I left the shop to stroll through one of ATL's many spring festivals and got a boyfriend --- And the ATL is notorious for beautiful, but very european centered Black women and down low brothas.

It's really the time women take, the effort and confidence that appeal and attract others. No matter whose beauty standard is used. One interesting point I've seen demonstrated on the reality show America's Nest Top Model is that each person has to use her own talents, personaitly and strenghts to make even a burlap potato sack look haute couture.

So I encourage all to focus on building their own defintions of beauty. Those around us grow from our struggles and eventually see beauty as fashoned by -- us.

Tobi-Velicia Johnson <tvelicia@...

Hi Sharon--

I'm not a man, but my opinion is that, unfortunately, many of our men are "brain-washed"; meaning that they believe in the "ideal" of having long, straight, flowing hair. I too got a lot of attention from men when my hair was relaxed and very long. My locks are almost shoulder-length now and I get attention, but it seems to be from a different sort of man.

Man now seem a bit more respectful--they'll say, "hello sister, how are you?" as opposed to, "Yo, what up" with a leer.

I'm sure that men who admire a confident, strong woman like you who is proud of her natural hair give you a lot of attention--they are just more subtle about it.

[Naturally_You] What is your definition of "natural"?

2007-04-23 19:26:12

Hi Sharon~

It's just the opposite for me. I wore my hair straight for the longest time (ponytails, braids, tracks, weaves, etc) ....whatever it was, I wore it and I got attention all the time, but NOW that I am natural (since 2001 and now 13 months into my Loc journey) I get WAY more attention with my Locs than I did when I was wearing my straight styles. Not only from black men, young, middle aged, and some older than me, but so many WHITE MEN approach me even more......which really rubs me the wrong way, but that's another story (grrrrrrrrrr!), but my point is that with my hair natural, more attention comes my way.
Nia~ [INLINE]

What is your definition of "natural"?

2007-04-23 17:28:36

I agree, hair color to me does not matter. Anything that you put in your hair whether it occurs in nature or not alters it; when you add oils to your hair it changes the way your hair feels and looks. So if we all wanted to be truly natural we would let our hair grown out of our head and do nothing but run water on it to keep it clean. So natural is without a relaxer be it texturizer or curly perm. If you choose to extend your hair with extensions but when you remove them you have natural hair I consider that natural. While you are transitioning you are in between so until you all the way natural you are not consider natural to me.
"S. Young" <inmynature2@...

I define natural hair, as meaning, one who does not have any relaxer
in their hair.
I know, I know, hair color can be a chemical. But if you color your
natural hair, I would still classify it natural. Though it may not be
your natural 'color', but it is still your natural texture. Some may
disagree and thats fine.
I also feel if you add anything to your own hair, like synthetic hair
or yarn, and such, you still have natural hair. You just lengthen it
with extensions. If you are transitioning, I dont classify it as
being natural. Simply because you still have remains of a relaxer on
your head. If its completely cut off then I would consider you
natural.
Just my opinion.

2007-04-22 23:45:32

Hi Mary--

This is what I would do for my locks, which I've had a little over two years:

After washing and conditioning your hair, once your hair is damp (not still wet), apply oil--about the amount of a quarter.

On a regular basis, when your hair feels dry, try a mix of water and a light natural oil, such as sweet almond oil. A spray bottle works best.

Re: What is your definition of "natural"?

2007-04-20 15:59:16

Re: [Naturally_You] What is your definition of "natural"?

To me, natural is just that, no perm, texturizer, nothing to change the texrure
of one's hair. Dye, henna, rinse is just to enhance the color.

Hello Therry,
I was wondering.........And I know your answer may be onesided............but
from a man's point of view, why do women who have a perm seem to get more
attention than those with naturals. I ask this only b/c I got alot more
attention when my hair was long and straight. I get attention from some guys
with my natural, but when I pressed my hair WOW I got all this attention again?
Can anyone answer?

All My Children soap: Hair Change

2007-04-18 18:59:20

Hello all,
For any of you who watch AMC, I noticed that the two black women both had
natural hairstyles. The older one (Olivia on the show) had locs
(palm-rolled) and the young woman had a natural, that she would pull back,
beautiful!
At first I saw Livia with a wig on! I thought, 'well, maybe she had an
issue like I did and had to cut it off', but then I turn on AMC today, and
now the young woman (Danni) on the show has her hair straightened! OMG!
I am so irritated, as Livia looked so cute, and Danni was showing every
black girl new ways to do thier hair without tons of chemicals. Now it is
all gone! Ugh! I am disgusted!
I had to put that out there.
God bless,
Hazelpone

Hi Latasha!

Personally speaking, I don't feel that she addressed your questions. Your first question was "Are you accepting of natural hairstyles and ethnic pride?" and your second question was "What are your personal experiences with your hair?" I don't want to sound mean or cruel however, I think that she gave unnecessary and unrequested information. She basically told you that she researched this topic by going to Howard, etc. but not her personal opinion on natural hair and her experience with it. I do agree that a woman's hair is her glory and should not be cut (this is not to be confused with maintained, trim, etc). I don't want to get in too deep but in the Bible it says that God wants us to be "holy" and "a living sanctuary". According to the dictionary, sanctuary means "A sacred place" or "A place of refuge or asylum". He does not wantus to pollute our bodies with harmfula nd deadly chemicals such as perms/relaxers, and colors (dying). Dying is also a chemical which
means t has ingredients that are not natural and that are harmful. I personally do not and have never colored my hair. No offense, but for some of my sisters that say that they are natural and color makes me wonder...do they really think that they're natural. It's just like people saying that they only tell little "white lies". A lie is a lie whether it be a white, black, big, or little lie. It's all the same, there are still repercussions to all just like a chemical. To wrap this up, I feel it is at your discretion to purchase the book, but you seem to have all the right answers and I feel that in this case, that's the wrong place to get your answer.

I just want to say that I hope and pray that I did not offend anyone and that these ideas and opiniosn are mine.

Peace and Blessing to All!

Thank you for writing me. The angle that I wrote the book was 1) all women are beautiful in God's sight 2) All women (no matter what ethnic background) have the glory of God setting on her if she obeys God word. 3) Knowing that the black sisters have struggled with their tight-curled hair I have found that there are ways to manage it without overprocessing it or damaging it to keep from having to repeatedly cut it. As the Bible teaches women, no matter what ethnic background to wear their hair uncut, women of color can have LONG hair. This I have proven in my book by serial works sited. I researched over 633 articles on black hair, combed thru over 300 book titles and took a special trip to the first black University in Wash DC, Howard University to visit their reference material to find answers to help sisters to get there hair growing and looking healthy.
I did my best to help white & non black brothers and sisters to understand the struggle women of color have with their hair. It's VERY sensitive subject, I learned, for women. God is interested in HIS women looking their best to shine for the glory of God no matter what ethnic background. Judging by the research black women have as much struggle is the white do with their hair. But it's not JUST hair, it's our glory!!!!! I try to help ladies understand this principle.

Re: [Naturally_You] Pressing

2007-04-18 05:12:01

Well, all I can say now is whoa! After a month of straight hair, I wanted my naps back and to my dismay they are gone. I washed my hair last night expecting to rock a nice fluffy afro this morning and it was a totally different texture. Not really straight but more strawsettish looking. I will have to get used to it, but believe me no more pressing for a while.

Hi Latasha--

I would recommend getting the book from your local library first. If they don't have it, request that they order it. Since I am on a very strict budget, I often borrow books from the library to read the book and then determine if I should spend money owning a personal copy.

I think I'm going to see if I can get this from the library myself. It seems interesting.

And I think you're right--it doesn't seem as though she really answered your questions.

Re: [Naturally_You] Thinning locs

2007-04-16 18:15:40

Are they breaking at the root, the middle or the tip? If they're breaking near the root, it could be because they are twisted too tight. If your locs are breaking elsewhere, perhaps your hair is a bit dry. Locs are low-maintenance for the most part, but the hair must still be kept moisturized. I recommend water mixed with a light natural oil, like sweet almond oil.

Also, how do you wear your locs? If you constantly wear a ponytail, the locs could break where the elastic band is. This is what happened to my boyfriend, whose locs are a few inches past his shoulders, but had breakage because he wore his ponytail too tight, and wore it everyday. Now he wears his locs in a braid and changes where he keeps the elastic band on each day.

I'm not an expert, but I hope what I've written helps.

Overall, it is the style that matters. Some twist outs and afro look regal depending on the dress style as well as outfits. For example in the winter a black turtle neck looks GREAT with a pair of jeans peanut color boots nice bangles hoop earring and a flaming twist out.

Or in the summer a tank and a afro with a nice scarf. I have been experimenting with looks. I have found many on websites and in mag. So it all depends. Furthermore some of the way these straight styles are teased out they look like a afro...lol

[Naturally_You] What are you three favorite things about Naturally You

2007-04-12 21:45:10

My 3 favorite things about Naturally You Magazine
1. PICTURES - all the pictures are of Black Men & Women with various types
of natural hair. I am a former model and back in the 1990s did runway a lot
and was very frustrated with how prejudice this industry can be. Growing up
I never saw many Black women in magazines and hardly ever saw any wearing
their natural hair in attractive ways like I do in Naturally You Magazine. I
like the quality and size (especially the close up head shots of large
pictures). I like how there is diversity in the pictures in terms of women,
children and men. I like the pictures (added this year) of the editor,
publisher and the one issue where the editor, publisher and their mother was
in the front of the magazine. I think that in this sometimes over technical,
fast paced world with massive communications networks (cell phone, gadgets
etc) people tend to get less personal. So I like the special touch of
including the pictures of some of the staff.
2. CONTENT - I like the quality content (stories, thought provoking
articles, educational articles, poems, information, etc this Magazine has. I
never buy magazines because I feel that it is usually a waste of my money.
But I will open them in the grocery stores and look at them and quickly skim
them. Naturally You Magazine is the only magazine that I will intentionally
pay money for. It has quality content (no gossip...looks whose dating
who...look who dumped who...so and so is pregnant...so and so lives in a big
house...or other things that are not of substance or to me important and
relevant).
3. LAYOUT - I have liked the graphic and content layout of this magazine
ever since my first copy (which was the second issue of Naturally You
Magazine). I especially like how everything is organized, arranged and layed
out on each page of the magazine. I like how each page isn't jammed packed
with too many things to read or look at. I also like how sufficient space
between each section of content/graphic is allowed to help make viewing the
magazine easy.

I think any texture of hair done in an "up-do" is appropriate for an evening gown. Hair doesn't necessarily have to be straight to be sophisticated.

Their are a few kool shops. fulton in in Brooklyn and there are alot of black designers there with tees and other items. Try moshood, Raif, 4w circle and in Harlem 125th street, 135th near 7th and 8th ave (actually, walk around 130-137th) and 116 and Lenox ave for Afrikan shops/market.

Times2x is touristy, very and SOHO is sheshe ($$$) and Nolita is another spot for unique favor.

read/ check oout Timeout mag and the village voice for more info on NYC happenings. Also, Black NYC happenings on-line before you come.

enjoy your trip.

Re: Off Topic: New York happenings

2007-04-09 06:54:05

Hi, I hope this can be of some help. Earlier in the year I asked for
suggestions of things to do in the city since I'm new here and I was
sent an extensive list, several of which I've tried and love. I've
been to Sylvia's and the food is good but the line on Sunday was so
long because tourist tours go there too. Also, Mobay Restaurant in
Harlem (there's one in BK too)is a nice place. Going from Times
Square to Fulton is not far if you catch the the subway, and it's
worth it.
Anyway, here are some suggestions from 'nyc_eve37':
"Let me start by saying 'Welcome to New York City'.
This is a long message but it is just a 'starter' list of Afro-
centric activities in metro NYC area. As the saying goes "So much to
do, so little time"
Let's start with the Dance:
Djoniba's Dance and Drum Centre, 17th Street - all types of African-
based dance and drumming classes: African, Caribbean, Brazilian,
HipHop, Belly Dance. Very high energy, highly recommended.
The Harlem YMCA has wonderful dance classes. Mouminatou, Abdoulaye
Diata and Funmilayo teach here and at Djoniba. Mambo/Salsa class on
Saturday Morning with the Mambo Fanatics. You don't have to be a
member and classes are very reasonably priced. Last August, the 'Y'
held a wonderful Dance and Drum Conference. Also highly recommended
Hansborough Parks And Recreation on 135th between 5th& Adam clayton
Powell has African dance classes on Sat from 1 to 5. These are
excellent and affordable. Again, highly recommended
Dance Theater of Harlem and Alvin Ailey are world class companies
and schools.
LaRocque Bey, 441 Manhattan Ave, Rod Rodgers on East 4th,
Charles Moore Dance School, Bklyn
Creative Outlet of Dance, Bklyn,
Maimouna Keita School of African Dance, 586 Halsey Street,Bklyn NY
11233
Salsa y Mambo- Eddie Torres, SantoRico, Addy Rodriguez, PielCanela,
Carlos Konig.
OLDSKOOL - Felix Hernandez' Rhythym Revue Dance will be at the Lab,
Brooklyn, Feb 12 and at Roseland, Manhattan in March.

Dreads - A Way of Life

2007-04-08 16:33:34

Hi Sharon,

It is interesting that you bring that up. I have been debating back and forth within myself whether I was going to cut my 4 year old son's hair. He has a head full of thick, long, pretty, and nappy hair. I was talking to a friend, who also had dreads, and I was telling him how I would like to loc my son's hair. And his response was that I shouldn't loc his hair because I wanted to, I should loc it because he wants to. He went into how locs were an individual decision and he went into some spiritual stuff about them, but me personally, I love locs, my hair is not loc'd, I'm tired of him either wearing a HUGE afro, or braids. I think he would be a very handsome little boy with locs. When I go to village night, I've seen a family of dread heads, the mother and father have locs and all of their children have locs (they boys and the girls). In addition to that I've seen a few more other little boys in a community that I socialize in who have locs. I'm not sure what way
of life you are suppose to have with locs, but I want to loc his hair and allow him to wear them until either he wants a haircut, or we decide to do something different.

[Naturally_You] Back on Topic - I Love My Hair!

2007-04-07 17:01:12

This will be the second time I have decided to go natural.
I did it some years ago, 1997-1999. At that time I was living in Boston and
working in the financial district. I can't tell you how many times I was
asked in meetings..."Can I touch your hair?" "Wow, what did you do to your
hair?" and my favorite "Is everything alright?"--whatever that means. Most
of the attention is because it was huge, as I was wearing it like Nadia
(former American Idol contestant). I bought into the hype about natural
hair not being corporate, guys won't like or looking to ethnic. So I sucked
it up and went back to relaxers.
But the reality is that it is my hair. And I embrace every thing about it.
It's JUST HAIR!!
This time around, I am making the conscious decision to go natural and STAY
that way. I have decided that this is about me. Not someone's "less
threatening" image. And the men love it!!

[Naturally_You] Back on Topic - I Love My Hair!

2007-04-06 12:31:36

Thank you for that comment.
I wear my hair natural b/c I have been transitioning spiritually. I have learned
to love me alot more and to embrace my hair in its natural state. I must say
that I feel lighter (in regards to stress). I am beginning to embrace a
healthier eating pattern as well. I recently went to NY to visit my home town.
My cousin has locs and she made a comment that I had to question. I will ask her
as well but I questioned myself first b/c this is not the first time I heard
this comment.
I was asking her about tightening up her locs. And she made a comment that her
locs are just a hairstyle for her, not a way of life. We went to a conscious
reggae party and most there were rastas (dreads and naturals). The music was off
the chain and the whole vibe (except the weed smoking) was so nice. I was
surprised that she made the comment b/c I always felt that her decision to grow
dreads was a conscious one, reclaiming her african pride. And she is dating a
conscious brother.
I know for me that alot of changes that I am making in my life takes time and in
order for me to live life peacefully I have to be at peace with my decisions.
B/c I want to lose weight also, I have made the decision to eat more fruits and
vegetables, eat whole grain breads if any, eat more fish, chicken and turkey and
less red meat. My ex didn't eat red meat and I lost so much weight and felt
healthier. I craved red meat with my son and it's been hard to break.
To say the least. I love my natural hair. Sometimes its a journey that I travel
alone b/c I don't have any natural friends here in Atlanta. I have alot of
friends who have locs but they live in different states. I still get comments
from family and friends about when am I going to perm my hair?? They just don't
understand.
I love when my 2 and 3 year old play in my hair. They giggle when they touch it
and my 3 year old says "I like your hair Mommy!!"

I just left NY this past weekend. When is the below event?
Sharon

7 Reasons; {just for laughs}

2007-04-05 16:51:17

7 REASONS TO CRAWL UNDER A ROCK
1. CURL UP AND DIE
I walked into a hair salon with my husband and three kids in tow and
asked loudly, "How much do you charge for a shampoo and a blow job?"
Melinda L., 39, Seguin, TX
2. PAD PLEASE:
An insurance man visited me at home to talk about our mortgage
insurance. He was throwing a lot of facts and figures at me, and I
wanted to follow as best I could, so I told my 6-year-old son to run
and get me a pad. He came back and handed me a Kotex right in front
of our guest.
Kate N. 46, Winston-Salem, NC
3. HO, HO, HO
I was taking a shower when my 2-year-old son came into the bathroom
and wrapped himself in toilet paper. Although he made a mess, he
looked adorabl
